Man dies after being struck by his van in Co Sligo

A man in his 40s died after being struck by his own van on Saturday in County Sligo. The incident occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. near Luke’s Bridge in Gortnaleck, Grange, along a steeply inclined road. Gardaí confirmed the collision involved a van and a pedestrian, who was identified as the vehicle’s owner.

Emergency services pronounced the man dead at the scene. His body was later taken to a local mortuary for a postmortem examination, and the coroner has been notified. The road was temporarily closed for a technical assessment by Garda forensic specialists before being reopened.
