Two terrorists killed during Washuk IBO in Balochistan: security sources

Islamabad – Security forces in Balochistan have killed two suspected terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan during an intelligence-based operation in the Washuk district, according to local security sources. The operation was carried out in the Palantak area and is part of the ongoing Operation Rad-ul-Fitna aimed at dismantling India-sponsored militant networks in the province.

Security officials reported that the two individuals were involved in multiple attacks, including the assault on the Mashkel police station and a raid on a customs post. During the operation, security personnel destroyed the terrorists’ vehicle and recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene. Investigators believe the arms were intended for targeted killings of civilians and further militant activities.

Following the operation, a statement from the security sources emphasized that Operation Rad-ul-Fitna will continue until all threats from Fitna al-Hindustan are eliminated from Balochistan. The group has been linked to a series of attacks across the province, raising concerns about escalating violence.

The escalation in militant activity in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has drawn attention from security analysts. According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), both provinces accounted for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related fatalities in Pakistan during the second quarter of 2026. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of violent incidents and fatalities, with 151 cases and 475 deaths respectively, while Balochistan reported 94 incidents and 265 fatalities.

The surge in terror-related violence since 2021 has been linked to regional geopolitical shifts, particularly after the Afghan Taliban took control of Afghanistan. Militant groups operating across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have exploited the porous terrain to launch attacks in both KP and Balochistan.

Security analysts warn that without sustained counterterrorism efforts, the threat from militant outfits like Fitna al-Hindustan could further destabilize Pakistan’s western border regions.
