Tottenham close in on Everton striker Iliman Ndiaye deal with Richarlison set for return

Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced negotiations to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, while Brazilian striker Richarlison looks set to return to the Toffees in a potential swap deal. The potential moves form part of a complex web of Premier League transfers ahead of the August 30 deadline.

Talks between Tottenham and Everton over Ndiaye have progressed significantly, though Manchester City’s interest in the 26-year-old Senegalese international complicates the situation. City have also explored a move for Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, another target for Spurs, though the Reds would require a replacement before sanctioning any transfer. Everton, meanwhile, have agreed in principle to re-sign Richarlison, who has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave Tottenham after entering the final year of his contract.

Everton’s openness to selling Ndiaye stems from his refusal to sign contract extensions and reported interest from Saudi club Al-Hilal earlier this summer. The Toffees have also made progress toward bringing Jack Grealish back on loan from Manchester City, though terms remain unresolved as Grealish prioritizes a permanent return to Everton over a potential move to Aston Villa. Tottenham, meanwhile, are pursuing Fulham right-back Kenny Tete, with Fulham already assessing replacements such as Andrei Ratiu.

These interconnected deals are part of a broader Premier League transfer window that could reshape multiple squads before the deadline. Tottenham, who have spent over £300 million this summer, sit bottom of the table after losing their first two league games without scoring a goal. Richarlison was Spurs’ top scorer last season with 11 goals, but his future remains uncertain as Omar Marmoush has replaced him in the starting lineup.

Everton manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Richarlison, Kevin Danso, and Pape Matar Sarr have all requested transfers. De Zerbi stated that if they wish to leave, they must provide solutions to the club. Danso’s first-team prospects have diminished with the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, while Sarr’s playing time is limited following the signings of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. Juventus are reportedly close to securing Sarr on loan with an option to buy, though Besiktas and other Premier League clubs remain interested.

Tottenham’s transfer activity has drawn criticism after their poor start to the season, but the club insists the spending was necessary to improve competitiveness following two consecutive 17th-place finishes.
