Sarah Ferguson Expected to Return to UK Soon, Source Says

Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, is expected to return to the United Kingdom "shortly," according to a source close to her. Ferguson, who previously shared Royal Lodge in Windsor with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, had been living abroad following her departure from the property in October. Her last public appearance was at the Duchess of Kent's funeral the previous month.

Ferguson is reportedly preparing to move into a six-bedroom home in the Home Counties, which could happen as soon as next week, according to the Sun newspaper. The property is a gated residence, offering her additional privacy. In the meantime, she has been staying at an Alpine chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, since leaving Royal Lodge. This week, her belongings were collected from Prince Andrew’s home in Sandringham, according to the Sun.

The scrutiny surrounding Ferguson and Prince Andrew intensified after their association with the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein came under investigation. Both relinquished their royal titles following the revelations. Prince Andrew was stripped of his titles by King Charles III due to "serious lapses of judgment" regarding his relationship with Epstein, a convicted sex offender. Prince Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Ferguson, too, faced consequences from the scandal. She lost her courtesy title as Duchess of York and reverted to her maiden name. Additionally, the City of York stripped her of the Freedom of the City honor following a unanimous vote by councillors. Despite the controversy, Ferguson has maintained that her past emails to Epstein were not indicative of wrongdoing. In one 2011 exchange, she apologized for publicly rejecting him, calling him a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend." A spokesperson clarified that the email was sent in response to Epstein threatening legal action for defamation.

Another email reportedly suggested Ferguson took her daughters to visit Epstein in the United States days after his release from prison for child sex crimes. However, no evidence of wrongdoing has been established in relation to these communications.

Ferguson’s expected return to the UK follows the recent arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who returned to Britain with their children to begin a new life after six years in the United States.
