Revanth’s govt. leaves its imprint after 1,000 days in office

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Congress government in Telangana has marked 1,000 days in office with a focus on investment attraction, IT sector growth, women-centric welfare policies, and infrastructure expansion. Since taking office, the administration has sought to distinguish itself from the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government led by K. Chandrashekhar Rao, emphasizing welfare delivery, economic development, and administrative reform.

The Revanth Reddy government has prioritized Telangana’s position as an investment hub, with significant progress reported under key initiatives. The State secured a “Top Achiever” rating in the Business Reforms Action Plan, reflecting its business-friendly environment. Through the Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TG-iPASS), investments totaling ₹1.29 lakh crore have been facilitated. The Telangana Rising Global Summit generated investment agreements worth ₹5.75 lakh crore. Additionally, investments of ₹92,281 crore have been made on Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) lands, expected to create over 78,000 jobs. The Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy has attracted proposed investments of ₹73,360 crore, targeting the creation of 3.5 lakh jobs.

Hyderabad’s IT sector has continued to thrive under the current administration. Government data shows IT exports reaching ₹3.97 lakh crore in 2025-26, with direct employment in the sector rising to 12.14 lakh. The city now hosts over 355 Global Capability Centres, with 40 more companies planning to establish operations in 2026. The government is also promoting Telangana as a center for data centers, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). Amazon has committed an additional $7 billion investment in the State, while the government has launched TGDeX, described as India’s first state-level AI data exchange.

Women have been a central focus of the Revanth Reddy government’s welfare and economic agenda. The Mahalakshmi scheme, a key electoral promise, provides free bus travel for women on Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) services. Over 335 crore free journeys have been recorded, with women saving approximately ₹11,000 crore in travel expenses. The government has also supported women’s self-help groups (SHGs) by extending bank-linked loans worth ₹60,487 crore to 4.54 lakh groups, along with ₹1,900 crore in interest subsidies. These groups are being encouraged to diversify into manufacturing, retail, and transport sectors, including operating petrol pumps and TSRTC buses.

Other welfare initiatives include Gruha Jyothi, which provides free electricity up to 200 units to over 53 lakh households, and subsidized LPG cylinders priced at ₹500 for 43 lakh families.

The government has also advanced an ambitious infrastructure agenda to support long-term growth. Key projects include the 360-km Regional Ring Road around Hyderabad, 6,092 km of roads under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), and the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro, which will expand to 122.9 km across seven corridors. Regional connectivity is being improved with the development of Mamnoor Airport and the expansion of Adilabad Airfield, aiming to decentralize economic activity beyond Hyderabad.
