Penge tied for lead in rain-delayed British Masters

England’s Marco Penge and New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier share the lead at the rain-delayed British Masters at The Belfry in Warwickshire. Play was suspended late Saturday after both players reached 11 under par through five holes of the third round. The resumption is scheduled for 7:00 BST on Sunday, with the final round pairings unchanged.

Heavy storms on Thursday and Friday disrupted the tournament, forcing officials to suspend play for more than nine hours. Forecasters expect mostly dry conditions in the morning, but heavy rain is expected to return in the afternoon and evening. Both Penge and Hillier completed five holes of round three before play was halted at 19:57 BST due to darkness.

Penge, 28, from England, has won three times on the European Tour. He played 32 holes on Friday, recording an eagle, 10 birdies, and one bogey. After 14 holes on Friday, he was 11 under but the round was suspended due to fading light. He returned Saturday morning to finish his second round on 10 under par, one stroke ahead of Hillier. Penge then joined Hillier for the third round late Saturday evening.

Daniel Hillier, representing New Zealand, also stands at 11 under par. The 28-year-old has not won on the European Tour but remains in contention at The Belfry. He and Penge are now one shot clear of Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin, who has completed six holes of round three. McKibbin, 23, joined LIV Golf in January 2025 and played all 18 holes of round two on Saturday, finishing with four birdies and a bogey-eagle-bogey sequence.

The leaders will resume play early Sunday as the tournament looks to complete the third round and begin the final round. Both Penge and Hillier remain in their current pairings for the final round.
