Israeli Strike Kills Three-Year-Old in Gaza as IDF Continues Constant Ceasefire Violations

Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza killed two Palestinians, including a three-year-old boy, on Sunday as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued operations despite a US-backed ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The strike in Deir el-Balah targeted an area near a bakery, according to Palestinian health officials. Among the dead was Tayyem Hamdan, a child, and Hussam Nusair, a Palestinian man. The IDF asserted the strike killed a Hamas militant, though no evidence was provided.

Palestinian news outlets reported additional violence in southern Gaza. In Khan Younis, an elderly woman was injured by Israeli gunfire, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA. Gaza’s Health Ministry stated that over the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks killed at least four Palestinians and wounded 14 others. Since the October 2025 ceasefire deal was signed, the IDF has killed at least 1,318 Palestinians and wounded 4,375, according to the ministry.

The US-backed disarmament proposal aimed at advancing peace negotiations has faced obstacles. While the US and the “Board of Peace” sought a deal with Hamas, Israel has rejected the proposal. Israeli media reported that a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jared Kushner, advisor to former US President Donald Trump, on August 17 resulted in an agreement to continue Israeli strikes in Gaza.

The ongoing violence has drawn widespread concern. Human rights organizations and international observers have repeatedly called for restraint. The IDF’s continued operations have raised questions about compliance with the ceasefire terms, despite Israel’s stated security concerns.

The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts continue to falter. The death toll continues to rise, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict.
