Bentley Motors, a luxury automaker under the Volkswagen Group umbrella, will unveil its first all-electric vehicle produced entirely in-house, the Torcal SUV, on September 23. Positioned below the gas-powered Bentayga, the Torcal marks Bentley’s third foray into electrification, following plug-in hybrid models like the Bentayga SUV and collaborations such as the Blower Jnr electric recreation.

The Torcal represents Bentley’s commitment to luxury electric mobility, with a starting price of $230,150 for 2024 models, set for delivery to U.S. buyers in early 2025. Unlike earlier electric initiatives—including the Bentayga plug-in hybrid and the limited-run Blower Jnr, a handcrafted electric reinterpretation of a 1929 Bentley—the Torcal is Bentley’s first fully in-house developed zero-emission vehicle. This holistic approach aims to elevate the emotional connection between driver and vehicle, a hallmark of Bentley’s brand philosophy.

Industry reviews have praised the Torcal’s attention to detail, including a synthesized engine soundtrack designed to mimic the growl of a classic Bentley V-8.
